According to reports, Costa Rica international and Arsenal attacker Joel Campbell is set for a move to Palermo. The 23-year-old, who has struggled to get into the Arsenal team since he was granted a work permit last summer, is reportedly worth around £7.1m and the likes of Villarreal are also circling, though the Italian outfit are set to win the race with reports claiming they are the first team willing to match Arsenal’s asking price.
His international form is very impressive, and he particularly shined at the 2014 World Cup where his country impressively got to the quarter-finals. Many tipped him to follow on with strong form in the Premier League but the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were preferred by boss Arsène Wenger in the limited attacking slots.
The 5″10 attacker, who can play on either wing as well as occasionally up front, has been to Spain, France and Greece in a chain of loan moves as he waited for a chance to play for parent club Arsenal. His most notable highlight was a 20-yard strike against Manchester United for Olympiacos.
He is a capable player who could do a good job in numerous teams around Europe, but it hasn’t quite worked out for him with the Gunners.
