Mikel Arteta has praised manager Arsene Wenger for his ability to stay calm during tough situations. Matt Barlow, writing for The Daily Mail, reports that the Arsenal club captain, who has made 135 appearances for the Gunners has the utmost respect for Wenger, who is always quick to defend his players and suggests that Wenger is not like most other managers.
“Normally in football a manager is a man who likes to blame other people but he (Wenger) never does, even when there might be a reason for it.”
The Spaniard also described how Wenger prefers to talk calmly to his players, rather than shout and scream which has developed him to develop a level of respect among his team:“He has never done that and that’s why we owe him. The manager is not a shouter, he is very well respected among the players.
“He doesn’t need to raise his voice to convince us of his methods. We owe him because he has always defended us in public.”
However, Wenger has been known to vent his anger on occasion, as demonstrated by his side-line bust up with Jose Mourinho last season and the infamous incident where he was sent to the stands against Manchester United back in 2009.

Following Arsenal’s surprise 2-0 home defeat to West Ham at the Emirates, Wenger will no doubt want to bounce back quickly and pick up his first points of the new campaign in this Sunday’s fixture against Crystal Palace.
