According to ESPN, Arsenal have told Mathieu Flamini that he is free to leave before the current transfer window closes.
The Frenchman has enjoyed two stints with the Gunners, winning three FA Cups, two Community Shields and a UEFA Champions League runners-up medal during his 221 appearances for the club. However, after the recent emergence of Francis Coquelin and club captain Mikel Arteta returning from injury, Flamini has fallen down the pecking order in Arsene Wenger’s side and so faces life on the bench for the rest of his career if he chooses to stay with the Gunners.
Mathieu Flamini has not started a competitive game for Arsenal since last December and was not included in the Community Shield team that claimed victory over Chelsea at Wembley. It is believed that Turkish giants Galatasaray are looking to snap up the Frenchman should he choose to leave Arsenal, but Flamini appears to be waiting for a pay-off before exiting the North London outfit as he won’t receive the same wage offer anywhere else.
