Martinez set for Wolves Loan

UPDATE: Martinez has joined Wolves on a season-long loan.

Young Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is set to go out on loan to Championship outfit Wolverhampton Wanderer. The Wolves Express and Star reports that Kenny Jackett, Wolverhampton manager, recently claimed that a verbal agreement had been made to take the ‘keeper on loan.

The Argentinian shot-stopper who has eight senior appearances for the Gunners will act as cover for first choice ‘keeper Carl Ikeme and hope that this move will provide further experience in competitive games.

The Arsenal man had an impressive spell between the sticks for the Gunners last season after keeping clean sheets against Borussia Dortmund, West Brom and Southampton and will be hoping to reproduce such performances in the Championship.

Martinez has previously been loaned out to Oxford United, Sheffield Wednesday and Rotheram United and this loan to Wolves represents a greater challenge for the shot-stopper who will be aiming to impress during his time on loan with the hope of securing a place in the Arsenal line-up on his return.
