Following the recent contract extensions for both Santi Cazorla and Theo Walcott, Arsene Wenger has stated that the extra time at the club that both players negotiated will only add a sense of unity to the squad and help them progress.
“I’m very happy because first of all, they are two exceptional players, and as well because I think the cohesion inside the club is an underestimated quality.
“To have a good cohesion level, it’s important that your players stay together for a long period. That will contribute.”
Speaking to Arsenal Player, the Gunners’ manager was also highly complementary of the Spanish international as he praised his technical ability and effectiveness at working with the rest of the team.
“You see how people chant Santi’s name. Santi is technically perfect, he’s a very intelligent player and a very good team player as well.”
Wenger moved on to praise Walcott for his eye for goal and pressed his claim that the England international has now reached the point in his career where he must step up and prove that he can rival the best forwards in the world and reach his potential.
“Theo is a good goalscorer and he makes very intelligent runs. I think he’s at a moment of his career where he knows that it’s now time for him to completely fulfil his potential.”
It is clear that the Arsenal manager has complete faith in his current side and so fans of the north London club will be hoping that the manager’s faith can be repaid by means of another trophy in the upcoming season.
