Spanish midfielder Santi Cazorla has come out and proclaimed happiness at his new deal with Arsenal, after he agreed a two-year extension to his deal at the Emirates, following three successful years in North London.
He capped off the 2014-15 season with an FA Cup Final win against Aston Villa at Wembley in May, and following his summer holidays the former Malaga man put pen to paper on a new contract, with his new deal being announced alongside a new four-year contract for England international Theo Walcott.
And now, speaking to Arsenal Player, Cazorla has come out to say how pleased he is to have extended his deal with the Gunners: “I think this is the best moment in my career and the best club for me, and for the future.
“I’m very happy and I want to try to help the team get more trophies.”
“Here I have everything. I have confidence, I have a good team full of good players and I think this is the best option for me. It’s an easy decision to continue to play for Arsenal.
“Every year we have a better team and we sign some good players every summer, like Mesut, like Alexis, like Petr Cech now, and this is important for me and the club. Of course we want to improve every year.
“I can only thank the fans for the support.
“They are amazing for us and I want to play for this club, for them, and I try to play well. I want to enjoy it all together at the Emirates.”
The Spain international helped dig Arsenal out of their ten-year trophy drought, winning consecutive FA Cup and Community Shield titles between 2013 and 2015. He’s become a central part of the playing staff at the Emirates, and as such has been rewarded with an extended stay in the squad.
The Spanish international has played close to 150 games for the Gunners since moving from Malaga in 2012, and managed 37 Premier League appearances last year, scoring seven times. He’s also been capped 73 times by his national team.
