It has recently emerged that Arsenal may have pipped Liverpool to the signing of Russian winger Denis Cheryshev. The wide-man has only made one appearance for the Real Madrid first team but has been a regular in the Real Madrid B side, scoring 22 goals in 109 appearances.
It seems that Cheryshev’s time is up at Real Madrid as Colin Harvey writing for the Daily Star believes that Los Blancos would be willing to let the player leave for around £15 million.
Following Theo Walcott’s recent pre-season stint at centre forward, Arsene Wenger may be on the lookout for a new winger to fill the void, and Cheryshev may be that man. He is known for his skill and speed on the ball; both of these qualities would suit the Arsenal style of play.
Liverpool were apparently also in the running for the Russian but it seems now that the Gunners are the most likely team to snap the winger up after reportedly being close to agreeing a fee.
