Costa Rica international Joel Campbell has been offered an escape route from Arsenal via Sicily this week, with Italian side Palermo offering Arsenal €5m for the 23 year old winger, according to Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Campbell has been on loan in recent seasons with an attempt to try and get some form and first team football under his belt – but opportunities in the Arsenal first team have been hard to come by with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott all competing for places.
It is reported that Campbell is desperate to seek first team football away from Arsenal a move upon hearing of interest from Italy, after several unsuccessful loan spell at Villarreal.
The Costa Rican has played 42 times for his country scoring 10 goals and it was thought that after an impressive 2014 World Cup he’d be given a chance in Arsenal’s first team – but it seems his Arsenal career is coming close to an end.
