# Gunners swoop for Edin Dzeko?

With several rumours circulating of Arsene Wenger’s interest in Karim Benzema, it would seem that the club are weighing up their options and may be looking closer to home to bolster their attacking options. According to Emanuele Giulianelli ([@EmaGiulianelli](https://twitter.com/EmaGiulianelli)) an Italian writer, despite the player’s wishes to join Roma, City have entered talks with Arsenal for the transfer of the Bosnian International.

Secondo Beguiristain Dzeko non andrà alla Roma. Il giocatore vuole aspettare i giallorossi, ma il City ha definito con l’Arsenal.

Dzeko is expected to leave the Etihad this summer, after growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of playing time, with the 29-year-old only making 22 appearances (12 starts) last season. City boss Manuel Pellegrini recently admitted that Dzeko could end his five-year stay in Manchester, and the striker has allegedly been subject of a £12million bid from Roma, which was rejected, it seems that Arsenal are ready to bid after failing to strike a deal for Real Madrid and France goalscorer Karim Benzema. It is expected that the £18million asking price for Edin Dzeko may provide a stumbling block to the deal, with Arsenal only willing to pay up to £14million.

It has been widely reported that Wenger has placed a “superstar” striker on his wish-list this summer, according to director [Lord Harris](https://readarsenal.com/2015/07/24/lord-harris-talks-arsenals-200m-budget/). Dzeko would provide the Gunners with a proven Premier League goalscorer should the Bosnian choose to move to London.
