Arsenal goalkeeper believes Arsenal are just “little details” away from Chelsea. The 33-year-old moved across London, leaving Stamford Bridge for the Emirates Stadium this summer and believes he can continue to win trophies in London.
Cech expressed how he saw similarities between London’s red and blue sides and noticed the way that his new teammates apply themselves in training and turn on their full focus mode on the field.
“There are a lot of things in common. What I’ve found is a group of players who work very hard and are focused on what they are doing on the pitch to get ready,” he said.
The team spirit has resonated with Cech, who believes Arsenal will be having a season full of silverware.
“I’ve found the team spirit quite extraordinary. Everybody pulls in the same direction, which is why I believe we will have a successful season.”
The Czech ‘keeper went on to say that not much splits the two sides: “If you have a game with two big teams it’s decided by the little details.”
The player then stated that his former side came out on top before and that he hopes Arsenal will turn the tables this year, since the team has the right players and resources to earn Wenger his first win against Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.
“In all those games Chelsea were on top we managed the little details better. I hope to be on the winning side again. It’s as simple as that. I play football to win games.
“We have a good balance. We have players with a lot of experience, who have won the World Cup for example, and young players who want to prove their point and play as much as possible.
“We have experienced players and hungry players so that balance gives us an advantage.”
Cech praised his new boss Arsène Wenger, who is the main reason behind the stability Arsenal have had for the past two decades. He hailed Chelsea’s recent years but went back to say that steadiness is the better solution.
“If you look at what Chelsea have won over the last 11 years you can’t really argue with what they’ve done.
“Stability is generally a much better solution, but it’s hard to achieve. Arsenal are very lucky to have had a manager with such qualities for such a long time.”
