Gabriel: I am very happy and adapting well

Speaking at the launch of Arsenal’s new away kit, Brazilian centre half Gabriel has discussed how well he has settled in at the club since his move from Villarreal. Gabriel told reporters that his family have helped him at home and in addition to this his new teammates have helped him ‘inside the club’.

The Brazilian has produced some composed performances since his move to the club in January and if he has settled in well those performances should only continue to get better and more influential.

The 24-year-old believes his ‘attribute of being strong’ has helped him adapt to the Premier League quickly as he admits the league is fast paced and physical in comparison to the Spanish top flight. He will hope to continue to be able to get the grips with what he described as ‘a lot of contact’.

“I’ve only been here for a short while but I think it is a wonderful experience.

“I am learning a lot with all my colleagues, with the city and with this club, which I have no words to describe because it is so great. I am very happy.

“I think it involves everything; the family helping outside and the team-mates helping within the club. I think this combination helps my happiness grow more every day.

“When I first arrived it was my time to adapt. I think I am more adapted now, so I really want to win, I want to be at my best to be able to do all I can to help everyone.

“I do think that my characteristics of being strong have helped me adapt well to the English league because it is a very hard league, with a lot of contact.

“So I have been making the most of it to get better all the time.”

Arsenal used him sporadically after his move to the club and he only made six appearances for the club, that number should definitely rise as the so called ‘settling in period’ is now in the past and the 24-year-old will want to be playing games alongside Per Mertesacker or Laurent Koscielny in defence.
