Wenger: Ozil is ours and wants to remain ours

Arsenal fans are set for some great, but expected news, with the story that Mesut Ozil is set to stay at the club being confirmed by Arsene Wenger today.

Ozil had been subject to interest from Italian giants and UEFA Champions League finalists Juventus recently, but Wenger has quashed any links by stating that German is going nowhere.

The squad, including Ozil, recently arrived in Singapore, and Wenger admitted that he believes the 26-year-old can reach even higher heights in his career next season, having scored five times and making nine assists in 32 appearances last campaign.

Upon his arrival in Singapore, Wenger said: “Ozil is our player, he will remain our player, and he wants to remain our player.

“During this period the newspapers are creative, and have to be creative, but many times the stories come from agents.

“It’s a big season for him because he had a difficult start last year and in the second half of the season he was very important.”

Despite being a fantastic footballer moving forward, the Frenchman believes that Ozil has also improved his attitude defensively since joining the North London side: “He has improved his defensive attitude, he works hard and offensively he is a top-class player”.
