Arsene Wenger has spoken on the official club website about his latest signing, Petr Cech. The former Chelsea goalkeeper arrives with a plethora of experience behind him. During his time at Chelsea, he won all there was to win, as well as a number of individual records and Wenger believes that could be crucial.
The manager said to Arsenal Player: “It was a very, very tough decision [to buy Cech] because I have two great goalkeepers. I think Cech can make them better as well.
“He has huge experience and the fact that he has won more big trophies can strengthen the belief of the team. That can help them to develop and that’s what I expect from him.”
Wenger went on to add: “You always want to improve the experience level of your squad and I thought he could help us gain something on that front.
“I still think he has a huge hunger. When I saw him with Chelsea last year he was always convincing and I’m happy that we could do it. His kind of knowledge and experience can help us.”
Since his arrival, many have tipped Cech’s winning mentality to give Arsenal that extra push towards the coveted Premier League trophy. After 11 very successful years at Chelsea, the 33-year-old Chelsea legend will undoubtedly improve the Arsenal squad, as well as being able to pass on his vast knowledge.
