According to Turkish newspaper outlet AMK, Joel Campbell is closing in on a move to Besiktas. The transfer is believed to be in the region of £5m and it appears that despite the fee needing finalising, personal terms have already been agreed for the transfer of the Costa Rican forward.
Campbell has struggled to find consistent playing time in the Premier League since joining Arsenal, having been loaned out on three occasions before being sent out on another short term deal to Villarreal last season, and featured for only 40 minutes of English league football for the Gunners in the 2014/15 season, scoring no goals.
After impressing at the 2014 World Cup, many Arsenal fans were eager to see what the future held for Campbell, but with stiff competition in the form of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez and more, it appears that the competition in North London is too much for 23-year-old Campbell to get a look in.
Despite Arsene Wenger telling reporters constantly that Campbell would not be leaving, it looks set that the young starlet will leave for Turkey, to join Besiktas boss Şenol Güneş.
