According to reports on social media, DIRECTV journalist Hernan Feler has revealed on Chilean radio that Arturo Vidal is to join Arsenal this summer.
Feler was the man to break the news of Alexis Sanchez’s move to the North London club during last summer’s transfer window and is thought to be close to the agent of the Chilean forward. Incidentally, that agent is also the agent of Vidal, who is currently with Sanchez in Chile on international duty.
28 year old Arturo Vidal is a ruthless box-to-box machine, with exceptional tackling, finishing and passing. He would bring tenacity to the Arsenal midfield that is on another level yet to that of Jack Wilshere and would certainly oust Francis Coquelin. He is widely regarded as one of the best in the world in his position.
The deal being reported by Hernan Feler is a five-year contract, which would see the Chilean powerhouse stay at Arsenal until at least the end of the 2019-20 season.
This news will be very welcome to Arsenal fans, as various reports in the British media are saying that Morgan Schneiderlin of Southampton is to reject the Gunners to join Louis van Gaal’s title bid at Manchester United.
Feler suggested that Arsene Wenger had a verbal agreement with Arturo Vidal to bring him to the Emirates but was worried that the deal may not happen, with Juventus keen to hold onto their star men, so started targeting other midfielders; hence his interest in Schneiderlin.
Vidal made 39 appearances for Juventus in 2014-15, including 12 in the Champions League as The Old Lady made their way to the final of Europe’s elite competition. The Chilean scored 8 goals and recorded four assists.
