20-year-old Abdul Rahman Baba is gaining interest from top clubs of the world. Chelsea seemed favorites to sign the Ghanaian fullback, but Real Madrid and Arsenal are beginning to keep an eye on him.
Despite all the interest, general manager Stefan Reuter is determined the defender will be staying at Augsburg:
“There is nothing concrete on our table with regard to Abdul Rahman Baba. We are very happy to have him at our club, we are delighted he is playing for our club.”
The Mirror reports, Chelsea are interested in Rahman, who impressed in the Bundesliga, where Augsburg clinched their first ever European slot, and finished fifth at the end of the season
Augsburg are asking for £14m, and reports suggest Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City are ready to match the offer.
We don’t need a fullback, and it isn’t a position that needs strengthening. We have Mathieu Debuchy, who will come back from injury by pre-season, Calum Chambers, and Hector Bellerin, who both had breakthrough seasons.
Bild reports that we are currently talking with the agent of Rahman to bring in his services to the Emirates.
A move to a Champions League club for Rahman seems likely, but Arsenal and Chelsea already have cover in that position, and his arrival will just ruin his career on the bench.
