According to Sky Sports, Arsenal have agreed a £10.9m fee for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.
Cech has also agreed personal terms in principle with Arsenal, but a final deal is yet to be announced by either club.
The 33-year-old is moving across London, after spending 11 years at Chelsea where he earned himself the title of legend. Cech has made 333 appearances for the Blues, helping them to four Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Europa league as well as four FA Cups and two league cups.
The experienced goalkeeper is expected to play first team football at Arsenal after being sidelined for a long time due to the emergence of young Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
If the deal goes through, which is now widely expected; Cech could face his former club in his first appearance for the Gunners as he is eligible for the Community Shield on August 2, where Premier League champions Chelsea go head-to-head against FA Cup champions Arsenal. The transfer will be a cash only deal, after Chelsea’s request to receive a home-grown player as part of the deal was shut down without consideration by Wenger.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich made the move possible when he allowed Cech to move to whatever club he chooses, even if it means moving to arch-rivals and London neighbours Arsenal.
For arguably the first time since David Seaman, Arsenal will have a top notch keeper between the sticks.
Chelsea captain John Terry believes that Cech will be winning Arsenal an extra 12-15 points a season if he joins the Gunners.
