Wellington Silva in contract talks

Wellington Silva in contract talks

Despite not making a single appearance for Arsenal, Brazillian winger Wellington Silva is according to ESPN sources, in advanced talks with the club to sign a brand new, long-term contract.

22-year-old Silva has been at the club since 2011, signing from Brazillian side Fluminese, but is something of an unknown quantity at the Emirates Stadium, and has been sent out on loan on five occasions, to Levante, Alcoyano, Ponferradina, Murcia and Almeria.

Arsene Wenger is believed to be a keen admirer of the former Fluminese man, but having not been granted a work permit until last year, it appears that constant loan moves away appear to be a necessity more than career development.

With Silva having one year remaning on his current deal, a contract would be to ensure the young star’s long term future at the club, and the Brazillian is keen to sign a new deal, having spoken to Marca in March and admitted: “My agent told me recently because we are trying to sort out my renewal. I only have a year with Arsenal.

“I want to do pre-season there and I’m very happy about this news.”
