Mesut Özil’s 2014/15 season was interrupted by a sad injury, but he came back in style for Arsenal, even though the stats don’t speak for themselves.
Check here how Özil’s last two months of the season went:
MAY MONTH REPORT
Özil started really well in the month of May with an impressive game away at Hull, helping the Gunners to a 1-3 victory. The way he participated in the game had big importance in the result as Wenger said “his influence was very strong” in the post-match interview. Despite the strong first game, it was not a great run as Özil lost his first Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium, which came against Swansea, and Arsenal could only get draws away to Manchester United and to Sunderland at the Emirates. In those matches, Özil saw many of his chances created being missed. Fortunately, Arsenal could end the campaign on a high as they destroyed West Brom and won the FA Cup for the second consecutive season.
JUNE MONTH REPORT
Özil’s last two games of the season were against United States in a friendly and against Gibraltar in a 2016 Euro Qualifiers game. In the same way as at Arsenal, Özil finished the 2014/15 season in good form, providing three assists in his final appearance. It was the fifth time he has managed a hat-trick of assists in his career.
