After his great performance for England away at Slovenia, Arsenal star Jack Wilshere has admitted that a certain documentary and man in particular helped to inspire him.
Wilshere scored a fantastic brace to help England remain unbeaten as the Three Lions picked up a 3-2 victory, with Wayne Rooney scoring a late winner.
The 23-year-old tweeted before the flight to Slovenia with a picture of the Paul Gascoigne documentary ‘Gazza’.
Post-match, the Gunners star said: “I watched it on the plane and yeah it did inspire me. You could tell by the way he played for England that he didn’t feel any fear. He was over that.
“Sometimes when they play for their country I think players feel a little bit of fear and a bit of pressure. He just wanted to go out there. He said he felt at his best when he was playing, with the ball at his feet.
“He did it and he was England’s best player. So, it’s worth a try.”
