Arsenal are very confident that Theo Walcott will commit his long-term future to the Gunners, according to the Telegraph. With the winger back from international duty with England, the contract talks expected to resume.
Arsene Wenger initially thought that talks between Walcott’s representatives and Arsenal will be a long and arduous affair but that does not seem to be the case as both sides are seeking a swift conclusion.
Walcott had doubts about his place in the starting eleven and it was assumed that those doubts will make him think twice about signing a new contract. But after featuring heavily towards the end of the season, the 26 year old’s fears have been somewhat allayed. Walcott, who only has one year remaining on his contract, will expect to earn close to £140,000 per week.
Walcott extending his contract will deal a blow to Brendan Rodgers and Jose Mourinho who are thought to be admirers of him.
