Alexis: My first season bittersweet

Many would think that scoring 16 goals in the league and winning the FA Cup in your first season in the Premier League would be classed as a successful season, but not Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez. When asked about his thoughts on the season, Sanchez rated it as ‘OK’.

“It was an OK season but it was bitter sweet. I would have liked to have been in the Champions League final, to have won the Premier League title.”

When it comes to winning trophies, the Chilean sets the bar high; Sanchez won a number with his former club, Barcelona, where trophyless season’s are deemed unacceptable. With the superb array of talent Arsene Wenger has at his disposal, Sanchez believes that the team should be disappointed not to have contested in more finals.

“I believe that we have a bunch of skilful players so to not have achieved more is disappointing. Yes, we played the FA Cup final and won but I was sad to not have been in the Champions League final or to have won the Premier League.”
