Aaron Ramsey has once again proven to be a key, integral part of the Arsenal team. Although he did not recapture last season’s astounding goalscoring form, he has improved tremendously in all aspects of his game this season, and despite a season filled with disruptions, has managed 10 goals in all competitions.
Shunned to the right to do a job for the team, Ramsey has been outstanding. Providing energy, drive, and a goalscoring threat with well-timed runs that brings back memories of Freddie Ljungberg, a huge aspect of Ramsey’s talent is still overwhelmingly overlooked: his technical abilities. The Welshman is a superbly talented footballer, which is why it is a huge boost having him in the middle, a position that we should see become his own next season.
Although the Welshman has been brilliant on the right, where he is at his best is in the middle of the park, where he can start moves, and get on the end of them. In the middle is where the Gunners will get the best out of Ramsey, and the best out of Ramsey is scintillating. The Welshman has developed both mentally and physically over the course of his Arsenal career to become one of the best players at the club, and it was no surprise he turned up on the big occasion again.
At Wembley, he was superb on the right, with his engine and energy, he covered multiple positions effectively, and it showcased the Welshman’s huge talent. Having a knack of delivering on the big games, Ramsey was also the voted man of the match in the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, where he was outstanding in the middle of the park.
He might blow hot and cold at times, but when Ramsey is at his best, he is unquestionably one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, with reminiscence of a bit of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard in his game.
Developing in key aspects of his game this season will definitely be in good suit for next season, where the Welshman will surely want to establish himself as one of the best, and Arsenal need to realise what a brilliant prospect they have in their hands in order to fully utilise the Welshman to his devastating best.
