Speaking on Kenyan TV, Southampton’s midfield powerhouse Victor Wanyama claimed that he would be interested in a move to north London.
It is believed that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been a long term admirer of the 23 year-old Saints midfielder and with the transfer window opening in the coming days, an early move for Wanyama would be a huge boost of confidence to the Arsenal faithful.
The former Celtic midfielder said: “It would be nice to move to Arsenal.
“But at this moment such decisions can only be made by Southampton and that is where my concentration as a player is.”
Wanyama has made 62 appearances in two seasons for the Saints since signing from Celtic in a £12.5m move that saw the Kenyan bolster the midfield of the Premier League new boys.
Arsenal have long been linked with both Wanyama and team mate Morgan Schneiderlin, who both desire a move to a team playing in the UEFA Champions League, but if reports are to be believed, it would appear the latter is closing in on a move to Manchester United.
With Arsenal needing more strength in midfield, Wanyama may appear to be the perfect partner to sit next to the imperious Francis Coquelin, forming fantastic defensive protection.
