It has been a season of unbelievable ups and downs for the Gunners, but now that all is said and done it is time to look back on the season’s best moments and today we start with goals, goals and more goals.
We picked out our five best goals of the season, so sit back, watch them, reminisce and at the end, vote on which was your favourite in our poll.
First, the honourable mentions who haven’t quite made the top five:
Hector Bellerin vs. Aston Villa (5-0 win, Emirates Stadium)
Alexis Sanchez vs. Southampton (2-1 loss, Emirates Stadium)
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain vs. Monaco (3-1 loss, Emirates Stadium)
Mesut Ozil vs. Liverpool (4-1 win, Emirates Stadium)
Top five (no order, that’s down to you!):
Alexis Sanchez vs. Manchester City (2-2 draw, Emirates Stadium)
You’re going to see a lot of Alexis on this list, but after such a fantastic first season at the club who can blame us for picking him? This fantastic 74th minute strike put Arsenal 2-1 up against the defending Premier League champions. What a strike it was!
Aaron Ramsey vs. Galatasary (4-1 win, Türk Telekom Arena)
What an effort. With his weaker foot! That’s all there is to say. I don’t think many people expected this thunderbolt of an effort from Aaron Ramsey in the UEFA Champions League and it’s certainly worth its place amongst not only the best goals from an Arsenal perspective, but from any player anywhere.
Alexis Sanchez vs. Liverpool (4-1 win, Emirates Stadium)
The goal on the strike of half time against Liverpool that really showed the gulf in class between the two sides. Alexis snatched the ball and brought it inside, unleashing a rocket into the back of the net against the side he could have joined last summer. What a goal and what a signing.
Jack Wilshere vs. West Brom (4-1 win, Emirates Stadium)
Voted the Match of the Day Goal of the Season to the delight of the Arsenal faithful. Again, proving their domination of the online football world. In truth, a great strike from a player who really needed a goal like that to propel his confidence. The power and precision gave the West Brom goalkeeper absolutely no chance. A real contender for the best Arsenal goal.
Alexis Sanchez vs. Aston Villa (4-0 win, Wembley Stadium)
The FA Cup final goal that set the two sides apart. It was not a close affair, but Alexis’ strike in the final was one to behold, an unbelievable effort that saw the ball move in different directions before flying past Shay Given into the back of the net. Another goal that proves Arsene Wenger was right to pay Barcelona £35m for the Chilean’s fantastic service.
.
There you have it. Five fantastic goals scored by Arsenal in the 2014/15 season. Which was your favourite? Vote in the poll to let us know and if you think we’ve done anyone an injustice by not including them, please let us know in the comments section down below!
