Arsenal star Theo Walcott could be set for a new contract, despite reports that a number of clubs are interested in his signature.
It has been claimed in the media recently that Walcott is a wanted man, but both he and manager Arsene Wenger have denied all reports linking the 26 year-old with a move away from north London this summer.
The Arsenal boss claimed: “When you go into negotiations with a player it is with a desire for him to stay. He [Walcott] looks keen to do it and I am keen to do it, so let’s see what comes out.”
Walcott took to Twitter in March to deny any rumours of a bust up with the boss:
Despite claims that Walcott could have been used in a swap deal with Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling, it now seems that the Arsenal forward is set to extend his current deal at the club he has been at since 2006.
Contract talks are unlikely to reach a decisive stage until after Saturday’s FA Cup final, but this will certainly be news that most Arsenal fans are happy to hear.
