Reportedly a long-term Arsenal target, Jackson Martínez may finally be making his move to the Emirates Stadium this summer, if the press in Portugal are to be believed.
Publication Jordal di Noticias have today been reporting that there is a pre-contract deal agreed for the big front man, and that Arsenal will go on to sign him in the summer. They describe it as a ‘principle agreement’ – which would be around £24.8m, his current buyout clause.
The 28-year-old has always scored goals in his career, and boasts the astute ratio of 67 goals in 89 league games for Porto as a result. He’s also proved to be a force to be reckoned with in Europe, scoring 7 goals in 7 starts this season in the Champions’ League – a truly fantastic record.
With Olivier Giroud continually frustrating despite his excellent form and Danny Welbeck not the answer in the eyes of most, will Arsenal bring in a new face to spearhead the line? And will Arsène Wenger be heading to Portugal for the answer? All will unfold in the next few months. Sit tight.
