Giroud against Arsenal change in style

Olivier Giroud has spoken out against a potential change in the style of Arsenal’s football.

Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho has received a lot of criticism from many for his approach to football and during the 0-0 draw between Arsenal and Chelsea at the Emirates, the home supporters repeatedly chanted ‘boring, boring Chelsea’, causing much conversation about ‘winning formulas’ in football.

With Chelsea sat atop of the league table it is evident that Mourinho’s style works, with his side losing only two games this season, conceding 26 goals in 33 games in the process and the blues are currently 10 points clear of second placed Manchester City with a game in hand.

Despite being recognised as a defensive, counter attacking side, Chelsea have also scored the second highest amount of goals in the league (65, five fewer than Manchester City) and have a plethora of attacking talents including the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa.

Giroud said that he did not hear the fans’ chants and that Chelsea’s position in the Premier League table speaks for itself.

“I did not hear (the fans’ chants), because I do not understand most of the time, so I ask my English team-mates. Boring? I don’t know, but there is the table who speaks for them.”

The Frenchman also insisted that neither side would be willing to change the style of their game, citing that if the west Londoner’s go on to be champions then that alone will speak for itself.

“It is true maybe they are not (playing) the same game as us, but we are not going to change our game and I think they are not going to change their game.

“I think they are pleased with that and, if they are champions, what can you say?”

Giroud continued to discuss Arsenal and agreed that one or two new additions to the side could see them become title challengers once more.

“Yes, I think we can (be up there with Chelsea in the title race next season). Hopefully we will have less injuries and if we keep this group, with maybe one or two new players coming in, we can have a great season.

“I know we can still improve as we have been doing since I signed. I am proud about it and pleased with that.

“I just want to carry on like that and I know if we keep our best players, this determination and team spirit, I am sure we are going to join the championship race.”
