# Bellerin: I like to get forward

Hector Bellerin has been brought into first team football this season and has had a fantastic impact, replacing Mathieu Debuchy with a lot of class after an injury ravaged first season at the Emirates for the French full back.

Bellerin was brought in by Wenger in 2011 from Barcelona and signed his first professional contract with the Gunners in July 2013, later making his debut in September.

Since then, Bellerin has worked hard within the Arsenal reserves side and earned himself many plaudits while on loan at Watford, utilising his pace and ability to beat a man on the ball.

The Spanish U-21 international spoke to Arsenal Player after the 0-0 draw with Chelsea and discussed his strengths.

“As people know I used to be a winger before, so I like to get forward a lot.

“That’s probably the best thing about my game. I just try to help the team at both ends of the pitch and I think I did that.”

Bellerin claimed that his side had to rise to the occasion against Chelsea and put on a good display both offensively and defensively.

“It was a really big game, a really tough game. We had to rise to the occasion because \[Chelsea\] have a really good team and they’ve shown that throughout the season.

“We were on a strong run, so we knew it was going to be tough. We didn’t have many chances in the second half but the team worked really hard, we stopped them really well and did well on their counter-attacks.

“We probably deserved a bit more because we had a few chances, especially in the first half, but that’s the way games go. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don’t and that’s what happened here.”

The former Watford right back will be hoping to retain his place in the side next season, with Arsene Wenger being provided a selection headache as Calum Chambers, Mathieu Debuchy and the returning Carl Jenkinson will all be vying for a place in the first team.
