Manchester United have joined the chase for Southampton’s highly-rated French central midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin as Arsenal and Spurs are hotly racing after his signature.
It’s rumoured that both Arsene Wenger and his Spurs counterpart Pochettino are willing to match Southampton’s valuation of the player at £27m, however with the Tottenham manager having worked with the 25-year-old midfielder at Southampton, perhaps the team in white have more of an upper hand on the deal.
In other news Arsenal are said to be after the ‘new Neuer’ in Mainz goalkeeper Loris Karius (or so The Express say). However the deal is said to only be possible in the summer so Gunners fan will have to live with their current shot-stoppers until then.
Bundesliga teams such as Schalke and Borussia Dortmund are also said to be tracking the U21 German international and the transfer is certainly set to be high-profile.
On the topic of goalkeepers it’s being reported that Petr Cech is high on Arsene Wenger’s interest list as the French manager ups his interest in the out-of-favour Chelsea goalkeeper. The asking price is said to be near £8m, with Wenger rumoured to test Chelsea’s resolve with a £7m bid in January.
Wenger axed Szczesny for the FA Cup game against Hull at The Emirates, with Colombia keeper David Ospina preferred.
The Express also report the Emirates outfit – along with Man United and Liverpool – have received a huge boost in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani as a prominent Uruguayan journalist has claimed that the prolific forward is ready to move on in the summer from the French capital.
He said: “For the time being, Cavani will not leave PSG until the end of the season, as his agent confirmed.
“At the end of the season there is a strong chance he will go somewhere else, in particular to England or Spain.”
The move is set to cost any club £60m+. Do you think Cavani is worth that?
