Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly keeping close tabs on Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.
According to a report from the Mirror, the Gunners are contemplating a summer swoop for Saints ‘keeper McCarthy, as they aim to bolster their goalkeeping options ahead of next season.
Arsenal currently have Petr Cech and David Ospina in the ranks as their senior goalkeepers. However, neither have convinced when they have been called upon in recent times and this has prompted the Gunners to look elsewhere.

McCarthy has been an outstanding performer in what has been a difficult season for Southampton. His form in recent weeks contributed to Mark Hughes’ side narrowly avoiding relegation down to the Championship.
The 28-year-old has spent much of his career in the top-flight as a backup option for clubs but at Southampton, he appears to have made the number one spot his own.
Arsenal will need to fend off competition from Liverpool and Wolves in their apparent pursuit of McCarthy, though, if the Mirror are to be believed.
