The Gunners travel to the Wanda Metropolitano to play Atletico Madrid in the Europa League Semi-final second leg, this Thursday.
The scores are level at 1-1 following a late Antoine Griezmann goal that cancelled out Arsenal’s opener scored by Alexandre Lacazette.
The La Liga side have the advantage, following the away goal but the Gunners will ready to go all the way to ensure they book their place in the final.
The North London side are aiming to book their place in a European final for the first time since 2006, with manager Arsene Wenger looking to bow out with silverware, at the end of the season.
Arsenal. however, have potential injuries to key players. Henrik Mkhitaryan faces a late test following a knock picked up in the 2-1 weekend defeat to Manchester United. Sead Kolasinac was also substituted with a groin problem.
With that said both squads are still expected to name strong line-ups. We take a look at how the Gunners may line up.
Petr Cech
Expected to be recalled after being rested on the weekend.
Hector Bellerin
Expected to retain his place although he played over the weekend.
Bellerin will likely play in the wing back position.
Shkodran Mustafi
Returns for the match up against Diego Costa. This encounter is poised to have strong challenges coming from both players.
Callum Chambers
Likely to play in this fixture. Chambers was also part of the team that lost at Man United but is expected to retain his place in the starting line up.
Laurent Koscielny
The captain returns to he line up and he will be looking to make amends for his blunder that lead to Griezmann’s goal in the first leg.
Nacho Monreal
Likely to play in the wing back position. Monreal also likes to join in on attacks, makes good over-lapping runs and also has an eye for goal.
Jack Wilshere
Likely to start in a deep role in midfield. He has had an excellent season since his return from injury.
He is a protector of the back and will like tasked with marking the opposition’s attacking midfielder.
Aaron Ramsey
Back in the line up after a rest on the weekend. Ramsey has continued his goal scoring run in recent games.
Very intelligent and a big game player. As a versatile midfielder, he enjoys taking players on and driving into dangerous areas.
Mesut Ozil
Returns to the line up after being rested on the weekend. Will be a massive threat to the opposition, his awareness of where players are, and his knowledge of the game is fantastic to watch.
Danny Welbeck
Returns to the line up after slight rest on the weekend. Welbeck us the width well as he stretches the opposition. This creates spaces for players like Ozil and Ramsey to run into.
Alexander Lacazette
Lacazette was a threat to both the Atletico central defenders, in the first leg. His pace and movement was sharp and effective in Arsenal’s attacks.
No doubt, he will be present up top in the upcoming fixture.
