Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he will take time away from the game before deciding what the next step will be in his football career, as per a report from the Mail Online.
It was recently confirmed that Wenger would leave the club at the end of the campaign, paving way for the Gunners to enter a new era of management.
Since confirming his departure he has been linked with both the Chinese and Japenese national team jobs, while Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco have also been touted as possible destinations in roles away from the dugout.
Speaking to Sky Sport prior to Arsenal’s defeat to Manchester United on Sunday, Wenger said:
I am confused a little bit at the moment and I have decided to take a little distance for four or five weeks before I make a decision. I need to move away a little bit to take perspective on my situation and analyse it in the most objective way possible, even if it is not easy.
Wenger has also admitted that his departure will leave him with a strange after spending much of his career at Arsenal.
It is strange for me because for 22 years I have had 1,200 games or something like that for Arsenal Football Club. Every time you prepare the team you are tense. It’s a complete part of your life, it’s more than part of your life.
The Arsenal manager will be looking to bow out on a high in the Europa League with the Gunners looking for a positive result in the second leg against Atletico Madrid.
