Shakhtar Donetsk manager Paulo Fonseca is reportedly keen on replacing Arsene Wenger at the Emirates despite interest from Premier League rivals Everton.
The Express are reporting a claim made by journalist Guillem Balague, who claims that the Shakhtar has turned down an approach to take over at Goodison Park this summer.
In a video on his personal YouTube channel, Balague said:
Even though his time at Shakhtar Donetsk didn’t start very well, I think he was knocked out of the qualifiers of the Champions League, you’ve seen a different Shakhtar Donetsk since.
It’s something that has been observed by Premier League clubs, including Everton. Everton approached him and he said no to Everton. Why? Because he is thinking of Arsenal. He has been told Arsenal are interested in him.

Fonseca joined the Ukranian outfit in 2016 and completed the domestic treble in his first season, winning the league, Ukranian Cup and Ukranian Super Cup.
Whoever takes the Arsenal hot seat will have a difficult to act to follow after Wenger’s 22-year reign in which the club have picked up 17 trophies including three Premier Leagues.
The favourite for the job is currently Massimilano Allegri, although many names have been linked to the position since Wenger announced he was leaving.
