Arsene Wenger confirmed in his press conference on Wednesday that Mohamed Elneny will miss the rest of the season.
Wenger was speaking ahead of his side’s Europa League semi-final against Atletico Madrid and told the press that the midfielder would not play for the Gunners again this year but he should be available for the World Cup
Mohamed Elneny is out for the rest of the season. He has a little, little chance to play at Huddersfield. But I think he will be available for Egypt at the World Cup, but not anymore for Arsenal.
Elneny, who had been in good form for the Gunners, had to be stretchered off when he damaged ligaments in his left ankle after landing awkwardly following a challenge with Mark Noble in the 4-1 victory over West Ham at the weekend.

Wenger also confirmed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan wouldn’t be fit in time for tomorrow’s first leg despite returning to training. The Armenian international hasn’t featured since the 4-1 win over CSKA Moscow at the start of the month.
The news will disappoint Arsenal fans as their only chance of returning to the Champions League next season is by winning the Europa League, and Madrid go into the tie already as favourites.
