Arsenal confident of beating Chelsea to Spaniard
Arsenal are confident of beating Chelsea to former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, according to Bleacher Report.
The Gunners are said to be confident of landing Enrique ahead of their Premier League rivals should both clubs go in for him in the summer.
Arsenal confirmed last week that Arsene Wenger would be leaving the club at the end of the season after 22 years in charge and the search for his successor is already underway.
After a poor season for Chelsea sees them looking set to finish fifth in the league and miss out on a Champions League spot, rumours are rife that Antonio Conte will not be in the Chelsea dugout next season.
With reports suggesting that both clubs will be making a move for Enrique in the summer,Arsenal and Chelsea could look set for a tug of war over his services.
However John Cross of the Daily Mirror believes that Arsenal could have the edge in securing the Spaniard with Arsenal having appointed Barcelona’s former Director of Football, Raul Sanllehi, as the club’s Head of Football Relations back in January.
Cross believes the only stumbling block for Arsenal could be his £15million a year wage demands.
During his time at Barcelona Enrique guided the Catalan giants to the UEFA Champions League trophy, two La Liga titles and three Copa del Rey titles.
