Arsene Wenger has transformed Arsenal over the years and has brought through an incredible amount of talent during his time in charge at the club.
However, it is fair to say that this current crop of players is far from the best squad he has ever had.
As with any managerial appointment, a new manager will want to bring in their own players and put their own stamp on the team.
We’ve taken a look at the players at the club now who may find their position in the team under threat over the summer.
Alex Iwobi
Iwobi has been a regular in the Arsenal squad under Wenger lately.
This season he has scored just twice in the Premier League in 22 appearances. A poor return from the Nigerian international.
A lack of goals in the final third collectively has cost Arsenal this season and it will be one of the first areas the new manager will surely be looking to improve.
Petr Cech
Petr Cech has shown signs of a rapid decline this season and the Gunners are likely to be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer.
A host of names including Jack Butland and Jan Oblak have already been linked with a move and with Cech turning 36 in May, now could be the right moment for a new goalkeeper to come into the side.
Shkodran Mustafi
Mustafi has found his name in the headlines in recent weeks with several uninspiring performances.
The German defender also failed to impress against West Ham at the weekend.
A lack of defensive stability and consistency has been one of Arsenal’s biggest downfalls this season.
Arsenal have conceded the most goals out of all the teams in the top seven, an astonishing 14 more than Burnley. Something will have to change next season.
Laurent Koscielny
Another defender who could find his place at risk is Koscielny.
The French international has once again been plagued by injuries this season, meaning game time has been limited.
Koscielny has been a regular in Wenger’s sides over the years but a new manager may be more ruthless.
Whoever replaces Wenger will need to make a decision as to whether or not he can rely on the injury-prone defender.
Alexandre Lacazette
He may have scored twice against West Ham over the weekend but Alexandre Lacazette has not enjoyed the season many would have hoped for.
A new manager may look to utilise both Lacazette and January signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a strike partnership, but if that does not appear to be the case then game time could be limited for the French striker.
Lacazette started 24 league games in his debut campaign but with the aforementioned Aubameyang and a new change of manager, that could be even lower next season.
