Arsenal given boost in managerial pursuit as rivals end their interest
Luis Enrique is reportedly free to join Arsenal this summer with Chelsea ending their interest in the former Barcelona manager.
The Times reports that the Gunners are set to hire Enrique as Arsene Wenger’s replacement at the end of the season.
The Blues had been linked with a move for Enrique for some time, with the Spaniard considered as one of the club’s cheaper options.
The report claims that questions had been raised about his temperament, leaving the Blues to look elsewhere.
Chelsea are now likely to pursue a move for either Maurizio Sarri or Juventus’ Max Allegri.
It was Allegri who was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge prior to Antonio Conte’s appointment.
Brendan Rodgers is another name that has been linked with both the Arsenal and Chelsea job in recent weeks.
Arsenal confirmed this week that Arsene Wenger would step down at the end of the season after more than 20 years in the job.
