Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted the club have offered midfielder Jack Wilshere a new long-term deal and he expects the player to reach a decision on his future before the climax of the season, as reported by the Mirror.

Wilshere has been at Arsenal for 17 years and has had two spells out on loan at Bolton and AFC Bournemouth.

A deal is confirmed to be on the table for the Englishman and Wenger admits that something will be confirmedm one way or the other, by the start of the World Cup in Russia.

Wilshere has had a fine comeback season at the Gunner,s becoming a regular part of the squad in recent months despite having some injuries along the way.

Wenger spoke about the situation surrounding Wilshere in his press conference ahead of the match against West Ham:

I cannot give you any news. I don’t know what is in his mind. He has an offer and we want him to stay but he hasn’t signed. It is a long-term contract and I hope he will sign it. I am always confident. You want the players to stay and be paid well. We pay our players very well. He has the freedom to make that decision.
