The result of Arsenal’s semi-final in the Europa League against Atletico Madrid may decide whether or not Arsene Wenger remains at the club next season.
The Telegraph claims that the game could prove to be crucial in a decision about the Frenchman’s future.
Arsenal players have talked up the club’s chances of winning the competition but were given the toughest possible draw when they were matched with La Liga’s Atletico Madrid.
Diego Simeone’s men are currently the bookies’ favourite to go on and win the competition, which in turn would qualify them for next season’s Champions League.
With Arsenal themselves likely to miss out on the top four, winning the competition is their best chance of playing Champions League football next season.
The Gunners saw off CSKA Moscow in the previous round. Arsenal were given a scare when they went 2-0 down in Russia during the return leg.
Goals from Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey in the second half saw them over the line.
