Arsenal make their longest Premier League trip of the season as they face a resurgent Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.
They come into the game in a great mood after progressing through to the semi-finals of the Europa League, seeing off CSKA Moscow with a 6-3 win on aggregate. Arsenal now go on to face Spanish side Atletico Madrid in the penultimate stage of the competition.
This match against Rafa Benitez’s side doesn’t really hold too much significance for the Gunners with a place in the top four all but gone, with all the focus on the Europa League.
There is still a strong chance of finishing the season in 5th, however, with Arsene Wenger’s side just three points and a win behind Antonio Conte’s Chelsea team.
Wenger is likely to make several changes given the amount of travelling his squad have done in recent times.
Here is how we feel the Gunners will line up for this game.
Petr Cech
He will start this one with Ospina still sidelined.
Hector Bellerin
With not too many options in this position, I think that Bellerin will continue to start.
Calum Chambers
Koscielny struggles to play two games in a week now, so I think that the young defender will come in.
Shkodran Mustafi
The German rarely misses out when fit and I see this continuing this weekend.
Sead Kolasinac
I think the summer signing will come back in place of Monreal.
Granit Xhaka
The midfielder should start after missing out against Moscow with illness.
Mohamed Elneny
After a fine performance against CSKA, which included two assists, I think he will start.
Jack Wilshere
If he’s fit following the CSKA match, he’s likely to start.
Mesut Ozil
He is vital for the Gunners and is set to keep his place.
Alexandre Lacazette
Having returned from injury in recent weeks, I think he will earn a start.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Aubameyang is in fine form and it’d come as no surprise to see him start with Lacazette.
