Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka will be unavailable for his side’s trip to CSKA Moscow in the Europa League on Thursday, as reported by ESPN.
The Switzerland international was in line to take part in the second leg of the Gunners’ quarter-final clash with the Russian giants. However, illness has struck Xhaka and he has subsequently been ruled out.
Xhaka has been in good form in recent weeks for Arsenal and his absence is sure to come as a blow for Arsene Wenger and his side.

Thankfully for Arsenal, however, they make the long trip to Russia with a comfortable advantage in the two-legged tie. The Gunners swept CSKA aside at the Emirates last week with a 4-1 victory.
The 25-year-old will be hoping to recover ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.
In the meantime, though, it’s likely that Wenger will continue to hand Mohamed Elneny the chance to impress in the middle of the park as Xhaka bids to recover from his illness.
