Arsenal clinched an important victory this afternoon as they blew Stoke City away with three goals in the closing stages of a testing encounter.
The Gunners had one eye on their Europa League clash with CSKA Moscow on Thursday but did not allow that to distract them as they secured a 3-0 win against the Potters.
It was a cagey affair throughout and Stoke appeared to look the more lively team in large parts. However, Arsenal’s attacking force proved to be too much for Paul Lambert’s men as the Gunners blitzed their counterparts in the final 20 minutes.
Arsenal were handed a penalty somewhat against the run of play and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made absolutely no mistake from the spot. The Gabon international had his second of the afternoon shortly after, as he struck the ball low to Jack Butland’s left after the ball fell kindly to him.
Aubameyang had the chance to complete his hat-trick as Arsenal were awarded a late penalty. However, he passed the responsibility to Alexandre Lacazette, who converted.
