Arsenal have long been linked with a move for versatile Real Madrid attacker Lucas Vazquez, but the player has taken it upon himself to express his commitment to the cause at the Bernabeu.
In a recent interview with Spanish radio station Onda Cero, the tricky winger opened up over his commitment to the La Liga champions despite his recent lack of game time.
I think I’m at the sweetest moment with the most confidence since I came to Madrid, contributing to the team and getting good results. My dream has always been to play for Real Madrid. When they proposed to me it was like seeing a lifetime’s work rewarded.
Claims had been made to suggest that Vazquez was growing uncertain over his long-term future at the Bernabeu. This was a consequence of Zinedine Zidane’s decision to use him only as a sporadic first-team player this season.

Arsenal were linked with a move for the wide man and reports indicated that Vazquez himself was open to the move. However, it seems these statements were untrue, with the player committing his future to Real Madrid.
After a difficult period, Vazquez is beginning to enjoy a more involved role under Zidane and is evidently happy with the way his career is panning out.
I am very happy at Real Madrid, it is the team that formed me as a player and I hope I can stay for many years.
Arsenal, as well as Liverpool, who were also linked with Vazquez, will be forced now to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements.
