Arsenal now have free run at signing German international
Arsenal have reportedly received a boost in their hopes of signing Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
According to various reports, the Gunners have identified Leno as an ideal candidate to replace Petr Cech at the end of the season. However, claims from Italy had indicated that Napoli were also taking a big interest in the player.
Contrary to these claims, though, Gazzetta dello Sport have claimed that Napoli are no longer pursuing Leno as their top goalkeeping target, as reported by talkSPORT.
Maurizio Sarri’s side are now reported to have turned their attention towards Mattia Perin, who is currently enjoying a hugely impressive season with Genoa in Serie A.
It’s clear for all to see that Cech’s best days are behind him and Leno, an established German international, has often been tipped to replace the veteran between the sticks at the Emirates.
The 26-year-old will hope to continue performing well for Leverkusen, with his stock continuing to rise.
