‘It might interest me’ – Ex-Gunner hints at Arsenal job in the future

New York City boss and former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira has admitted he would like to take charge at the Emirates one day.

Speaking to French outlet L’Equipe, Vieira has refused to be drawn into speculation suggesting he could replace Arsene Wenger in the summer.

Let’s say that someday it might interest me. But one day. I cannot say anything more because there is nothing to say about it and I do not want to offend Arsene, whom I adore and for whom I have a lot of respect.

Wenger is being called to leave the club in the summer with the Gunners likely to miss out on the top four this season.

Vieira has worked at Manchester City’s academy in the past and is highly thought of in the game.

The Frenchman is not the only former player being linked with the job. Both Thierry Henry and Mikel Arteta have been mentioned as possible Wenger replacements in recent weeks.

Carlo Ancelotti, Thomas Tuchel and Luis Enrique are some of the other names being discussed.

Wenger has another year remaining on his contract but his position is likely to be discussed at the end of the current campaign.
