Petr Cech saved a Troy Deeney penalty as he became the first goalkeeper to keep 200 Premier League clean sheets.
Cech had been waiting a long time to grab the record, having been stranded on 199 clean sheets since the middle of December.
The Czech international, who apologised for his part in the loss to Brighton and Hove Albion, saved Deeney’s penalty in the 61st minute with the score at 2-0.
Arsenal went on to win the game 3-0, thanks to goals from Shkodran Mustafi, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, thus ending their streak of three consecutive league losses.
Cech, who has now kept a combined 200 Premier League clean sheets during spells at Chelsea and Arsenal, will be hoping to make it 201 when the Gunners face Stoke City at home on April 1st.
