Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere could be coming to the end of his career at the Emirates after admitting that contract talks between the club and his representatives have hit a stand-still.
The 26-year-old spoke to reporters after Arsenal’s 2-0 win over AC Milan in the Europa League and said that a new deal looks further away that it did a few weeks ago.
When asked if there was any updates regarding his contract situation, Wilshere simply replied:
Not really no.
Manager Arsene Wenger recently spoke about Wilshere’s contract dilemma and said that the ball was in the court of the player and his agent, but the England international, when asked about his boss’ comments said:
Things have changed since then. We’re no closer to sorting anything out.

As it stands, the Arsenal academy graduate will be a free agent at the end of the season. He’s already allowed to speak to foreign clubs about a possible free transfer and in a few weeks time, he’ll be able to have similar discussions with other Premier League clubs.
According to the Mail, Arsenal have asked Wilshere to take a £20,000-a-week pay cut, meaning he’d go from a £100,000-a-week salary to an £80,000-a-week salary, although the Gunners are willing to include bonuses that could see his weekly wage rise.
The player wants to remain at the Emirates long term, it just looks like a case of sorting out the finances, but if an agreement can’t be reached, Wilshere could leave the club on a free transfer.
