Arsenal will reportedly consider a move for Lazio centre back Stefan De Vrij in the summer.
According to The Mirror, Jonny Evans and De Vrij are being lined up as alternatives to Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez.
The report claims that Atletico want Laurent Koscielny in any deal for Gimenez, though Arsenal are not willing to let the Frenchman leave the club.
If they are unable to secure a deal for Gimenez, Evans and De Vrij are likely to be pursued.
De Vrij’s contract with Lazio expires in the summer, with it already having been confirmed that he will not be extending his deal.
This means that he will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season, whilst Evans will cost £3m if West Brom are relegated from the Premier League.
De Vrij has impressed for Lazio in the Serie A this season, who are fourth in the table at present.
