Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith has criticised the performance of the club’s January signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Smith claims that the January addition already looks like the shadow of the player that the club signed from Borussia Dortmund.
The Gabon striker scored his second goal in five games when he tapped in from close range against Brighton on Sunday.
Aubameyang impressed on his debut against Everton but has been unable to build on his quick start at the club.
Smith believes that the negative atmosphere surrounding the club has already got the better of the new signings.
He looked a shadow of the player he was at Dortmund. Even he, in the short time he’s been at Arsenal, has been affected by the mood. He got his goal with a little flick, but he’s not the player I hoped he would be. I’m not saying he’s a bad player, but it’s a malaise through the dressing room and he’s been affected.

There have been yet more calls for Arsene Wenger to resign at the end of the season following the club’s rapid decline.
The Gunners are now unlikely to finish inside the top four this season, sitting 13 points behind Spurs with nine games remaining this season.
